National Iranian Gas Company

The NIGC major objectives can be surveyed in two different sections: national and international. In both sectors, the main principle is customer satisfaction and maximum productivity achievement. In line with this and based on the outlook document (2020 horizon), the NIGC aims at ranking the third among natural gas producers in the world to achieve 8 to 10 percent of the global gas trade share. The second objective of the NIGC is ranking the first in the region in terms of gas technology.

Electric was introduced to Iran in 1279(H.sh)(1901), when a 12 H.P. 110 Volt electric power generator was installed at “Bala Khiaban” in Mashhad to Provide lighting for Emam Reza holly shrine. The first official permission for installation of electric power generator for public utilization of electricity was issued to an Iranian famous merchant known as Haj Hossain Agha Amin-al-zarb. This Merchant then has established the first public electric power service at Tehran in 1905.

According to Article 8 of energy consumption pattern and in line with promoting the efficiency and renewable energies, the act of integration of two organizations Renewable Energy Organization of Iran (SUNA) and Energy Efficiency Organization of Iran (SABA) which led to Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization (SATBA) was submitted by the committee of ministers to the Iranian Parliament. The act was legislated by the Parliament dated 2016/11/15 and was approved by the guardian council on 2017/1/1. It was announced by the presidency to the Ministry of Energy.

Shahid Mohammad Montazeri Power Plant located in the north of Isfahan next to the Oil Refinery has been founded in an area of 2.2 million square meters. The plant has eight units of 200 megawatts, with a production capacity of 1600 megawatts per hour in total. The contract for the construction of four units of this power plant was concluded in 1979 between Tavanir and Technopromexport Company of the former Soviet Union and its installation operation began.
